I cannot stress the importance of a good hair stylist. Afterall, who wants to end up with a bizarre hair color or a hideous haircut or worse still with no hair! Fret not, it’s not that hard to figure out if your stylist is good or a complete dud. Here are my top ten signs to help you with just that…

10. You keep both ears

Okay, many of you are laughing about this one. And while, I’ve never experienced this myself (Phew!), I have known some girls that have had their ear accidentally snipped. Ouch! Sure, everyone makes a blunder once in a while but make sure that your hairstylist is being careful and has an accident free record.

9. Doesn’t drop scissors

A while back, I went to a stylist with a friend and I noticed how she kept dropping her stuff. She seemed lazy and worse still, non apologetic about her attitude. How is she going to give you a good haircut if she can’t even hold on to her scissors? Needless to say, I never went back again!

8. Doesn’t complain

A good stylist will not complain. They will enjoy their job. Yes, even if you want that tough haircut just like in a picture you give them or ask a thousand questions about the latest celebrity hair trends, they will be more than happy to be of service.

Imagine waiting to see your friend after a terrible day or a really bad first date and really looking forward to curling up with a good film and having a laugh together. Perfect, right? Well, what if the friend is actually a frenemy who is more interested in making your life worse as opposed to making you happy? Don’t gasp, it’s actually pretty normal for most of us to have atleast one frenemy. Here’s my list of the top ten ways to spot your frenemy!

1. Facebook Pictures

The only pictures she puts up on Facebook are of you with your eyes closed or in an embarrassing pose. The pictures of you looking gorgeous never seem to find their way into any of her albums ever. Sure sounds suspicious!

2. Her Reactions

When you gain a few pounds and other friends are genuinely trying to help you, a frenemy will tell you how perfect you are with a satisfied grin on her face or make you feel really guilty and hopeless.

3. Lonely

She doesn’t seem to have many friends and instead of her best friend has her lawyer on speed dial. Some people are just lonely out of depression or because they choose to be, but most have behaved in such a way that their friends don’t want to know them anymore. Be wary!

If you’re close to someone who has an addiction, whether it be food, caffeine, gambling, drugs or alcohol, you know how debilitating it can be, how hard it is to live a normal life. There are, of course, warning signs that someone we love could be an alcoholic, but sometimes we aren’t objective. Sometimes, it’s hard to accept that someone close to you has this problem. But, for their sake, and yours, take a step back and try to be objective. Read through this list of the ten warning signs of alcoholism, and see how many apply.

1. Drinking alone or secretively

If your loved one often drinks alone, or hides their drinking, then they may have a drinking problem and it may be time for you to get them to cut down or stop altogether. Drinking alone can mean drinking at home by themselves, or even drinking at a pub without a friend going with them. If they hide their drinking, you may not know of it right away so look for signs…

2. Losing time

If someone you love drinks to the point where they black out or lose chunks of time, then they almost certainly have an alcohol abuse problem. However, some prescription drugs, in combination with even a small amount of alcohol, may have the same effect. Such drugs include sleep aids and painkillers. You may want to have a look at their medicine cabinet.

3. Drinking regularly, often

Though there is no specific formula for determining whether or not someone is an alcoholic, this is the accepted standard for MODERATE use (anything MORE than this may indicate ABUSE): no more than two alcoholic beverages per day for men, and one alcoholic beverage per day for women. If you notice your friend drinking more than a glass of wine every night, it may be time for a rescue mission.
