In the previous article, we learned about five different skin types, namely, normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive and a necessity of a proper skin care that would be adjusted for your particular skin type.

Today, read our skin care recommendations that are designed to guide you through a wide sea of various beauty tips and products towards finding what you really need in order to keep your skin smooth, young, and gorgeous.

1. Normal Skin …

Normal skin, although being the least problematic type, still requires cleaning, nourishing, and moisturizing.

  1. In the morning, refresh your skin with rose water or an alcohol-free astringent tonic and moisturize it with a mild, non-greasy cream, preferably made from natural ingredients without petroleum by-products.
  2. Use a good quality make-up, but do not overindulge. Before bed, gently wash your face with a mild soap, such as goat milk soap, and put on a bit of an oil-based nourishing cream, paying particular attention to the areas around your eyes.
  3. After about 15 minutes, gently pat your skin dry with a napkin.
  4. Once a week, use an egg yolk mask, or any other natural and non-drying mask to feed and rejuvenate your face skin.
  5. Do not forget to take care about your body, as well. Every day after showering, use a mild moisturizing lotion to keep your body skin supple and healthy.

2. Dry Skin …

Dry skin requires a more thorough care, since it is prone to flaking, irritating, and fast aging.

  1. If your skin is dry, you should use only natural and rich skin-care products, such as undiluted shea butter, extra-virgin coconut oil, or home-made herbal oils.
  2. Apply them twice a day and allow some time for your skin to absorb nourishing and moisturizing ingredients from the oil before putting a hypoallergenic make-up on.
  3. Try not to use tap water, if you must wash it, use sparkling water.
  4. Instead, clean your facial skin with mild cleansing milks or herbal infusions. With good care, dry skin will always look healthy and smooth.
  5. Get a humidifier, it should be on day and night, in winter and in summer, because air conditioning, which is always on, dries your skin every single day.

Don’t Miss

This week in the celebrity scoop there is good news for Ellen DeGeneres and also some news following a horrible ordeal for the Travolta-Preston family. Hopefully if you are considering the Hollywood life, you can learn to stay away from all the mess that it involves for some celebrities.

1. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are trotting around Japan with their little ones…

On Tuesday the celebrity parents showed up at the Japan airport with the whole family. Little Vivienne, Shiloh, and Maddox stuck with mom while Knox, Zahara, and Pax held on to dad. Hopefully these adorable children don’t feel too invaded by all the stardom that is brought on by being part of Hollywood’s famous family. (source)

2. Patrick Dempsey races for breast cancer with Avon…

On Saturday Dempsey  made his way around the Daytona track with his team and help from his Avon sponsorship. As he showed off his pink racing stripes he talked about how nice it is to be able to help others.

I think fame in itself is quite empty unless you use it for something that’s benefiting other people.”

In support of his cancer surviving mother, Dempsey has opened The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at the Central Maine Medical Center. Dempsey also continues to keep us ladies watching him on Grey’s Anatomy as the smooth operating Dr. Derek Shepherd. (source)

3. Everything seems to check out with Jennifer Garner…

Along with her sister, Garner  strolled in Santa Monica to her doctor’s office for a post-baby check up. Her sister, Melissa Garner Wylie, flew in from Boston to help Jen and Ben Affleck out as they switch their mode to being a bigger family with two sweet, beautiful daughters. 4. Ellen DeGeneres celebrates her birthday with good news…

As DeGeneres got 51 happy birthday wishes from partner Portia de Rossi at the Chateau Marmont in LA, she received good news from the GLAAD organization. They have nominated her, “Ellen & Portia’s Wedding Day”, for Outstanding Talk Show Episode. Hopefully this birthday wish comes true when she wins the GLAAD Media Award. Do you think DeGeneres will beat out others like Tyra Banks or Oprah for the award? (source)

5. John Travolta and Kelly Preston have been put through too much…

As if the death of their only son Jett wasn’t enough for this family to endure, they have now been betrayed by people who helped them in their time of need. Although the Bahamiam authorities are on their side, paramedic Tarino Lightbourne certainly was not. Lightbourne has been officially charged with trying to extort $25 million from Travolta and Preston. Will people ever stop trying to take advantage of celebrities while their down? (source)

8 Answers about How to be Runway Fabulous Without the Runway

« 28 Jan 2009 | 13:48 | Uncategorized | Skomentuj »

Even in a fashion crazed metropolis like New York City, where models, socialites, and wealthy financiers party at the most fabulous of night clubs; dressing in fashions seen on the runway and in magazines is sometimes just not practical. Meet Tatyana Danilchenko, a super model in her own right, she has appeared in numerous Old Navy commercials, modeled for top designers, and was featured in an Ugly Betty episode.  I managed to catch up with the traveling beauty and get the inside scoop on ways even you can go from runway to real life. Her responses may surprise you as she believes that the secret to runway fashion is STYLE… she encourages women to find, create, and own their individual sense of style. “Style is developed,” she says. “The more you surround yourself in fashion, the more confident you will become in your clothing choices. You will develop a taste of what you like, what makes you feel good, what makes you look good…”

1. What is the biggest fashion faux pas?

Tatyana: What bothers me most is when women feel the need to buy an entire collection from a store and wear it all at the same time… that is not style. Style is not wearing all brand names all at once, but pairing one awesome vintage piece with something basic or even something basic with something brand name. You have to be open to experimentation.

2. How can women fix that?

Tatyana: When in the process of finding your style, pay attention to your own voice. If you find yourself saying “I wish I had this” or ‘This would have gone great with my black jeans,” that is a sign you should go out and get that missing link! Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you have the budget, invest in a personal shopper. They can help you with colors, fabrics, and cuts. If you don’t have the budget, utilize the sales assistants. They have great ideas and opinions, and you can even develop relationships with them if you visit their store often.

3. How can busy women stay fashionably practical?

Tatyana: My schedule is definitely crazy. I am running from the gym, to castings, to dinners. On days I know I can’t stop home to change, I plan a head. I’ll stay with neutral colors and a great pair of dark jeans; maybe drop a funky accessory and some lip gloss in my purse to go from day to night. If I can get away with carrying a bigger bag, you can be sure a pair of stilettos is in it too!

4. What runway styles do you keep? And which ones do you ditch?

Tatyana: I did a shoot back in 2002 where I had to wear this beautiful little black Gucci dress. I loved it so much I went out and bought the dress for myself. I think Tom Ford is a designing genius, he just knows how to accentuate the women’s body. That dress was flattering, sexy, and timeless. I definitely look at the practicality of an outfit too. I mean, sure an overstated puffy dress may look great down the runway, but if it’s being blown up by the wind on my way to work… that’s definitely not glamorous!

5 Basic Skin Types - Which Skin Type Do YOU Have ..?

Knowing your skin type is absolutely necessary in order to make a right decision about a proper skin care or treatment, which is suitable for your particular skin needs. The initial quality, or type, of your skin is genetically determined - meaning that you are born with it.

However, the health and beauty of your skin later in life largely depends on what you eat and how you take care of yourself. A popular Russian saying states that, after the age of 30, a woman looks the way she deserves …To always look great, the first step is to determine your skin type so that you can match it with the best recommended methods to improve your look and slow the aging process.

5 Home-Made Face Masks for Winter Skin Care…

Generally, we can single out five basic skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive, with each having particular characteristics and requiring specific care and/or treatment.

To determine your type, use a simple test with a clean facial tissue (or paper) to wipe your face in the morning, when you have just woken up:

1. Normal Skin …

If you skin belongs to a normal type, the tissue will not reveal any traces of oil. Your skin should feel vibrant, elastic, and supple. Normal skin is the least problematic type.

It looks clean and smooth and has a good circulation and healthy complexion. Even with a minimum care, it will look good well into your advanced age.

10 Fall-Winter Skin Care Tips for Radiant Skin …

2. Dry Skin …

If your skin is dry, the paper will be clean, too, but your face skin will feel flaky, dry, and tight after you have wiped it.

Dry skin can easily develop a sallow tone, wrinkles, and fine pores, and it is very prone to aging and irritating. It might still look great on a young person, but, to keep it healthy, you should apply thorough care and use regular treatment with natural masks and moisturizers.

5 Quick Steps to Soothe Chapped Lips …

« 26 Jan 2009 | 13:39 | Uncategorized | Skomentuj »

It is always better to prevent than to cure. Chapped lips can be caused by a number of factors, and many of them, such as being for a long time in a dry and cold environment, eating very salty dishes, or kissing outside in a windy weather ;) , can be avoided or at least minimized.

Other causes of getting chapped lips may be due to the thyroid hormone imbalances or B vitamins deficiency, which can be cured by a long-term adherence to a healthy, natural diet.

Chapped lips can also be triggered by your hypersensitivity to a new lipstick, in which case throw it into the garbage and never buy any product of the same brand again. No matter what the cause is, if you have already developed chapped lips, use the following tips to cure them as quickly as possible:

1 Step.  Goose or Duck Fat …

Our grandmothers used goose or duck fat to facilitate the healing of chapped lips. Those are truly wonderful remedies, so next time when you are making a roast duck with apples, do not discard the fat, but keep it in the fridge as a traditional medicine. If you do not have any, do not despair - coconut oil, or olive oil, or shea butter, will work great, as well. Apply frequently until your lips heal.

2 Step.  No Alcohol …

Do not use any gel, balm, or lipstick that contain alcohol or petroleum products - they for sure will worsen the condition and will make your chapped lips feel even dryer and more painful. Use only natural remedies. A good rule is to put on your lips only edible ingredients (this rule also works well for any other body care products, because the skin rapidly absorbs all contents of lotions and creams, both good and bad ). In other words, if you cannot eat it - do not put it either on your lips or on your skin!
